11/9 Tides in Tairua, New Zealand

Tairua, New Zealand

We checked into the Pacific Harbour Lodge.

I chose the lodging based solely on the open beam ceiling and I was very happy when I saw our room.

It was a self contained bungalow.  It is more like a cabin than a hotel, but that's ok with me.

Our unit looked over the garden, so we walked over to see the water.  We thought we would enjoy a cocktail overlooking the estuary.  The water was MIA.  So Russ returned to the room to read the newspaper I went exploring.

You could walk on the sea bed.  It was so cool.
So I walked and walked and took way too many photos.

This photo above was taken Sunday afternoon and the photo below was taken Monday morning.

We were told the spring tide rises and falls about 6 to 7 feet daily.
The next few photos were taken Sunday afternoon at low tide.

You can see on the far right a tiny bit of water.  When the tide is low, it is ver, very low.

I took, photos as the water started coming in.

Back to Sunday afternoon.
I love the patterns that the tides make on the sea bottom.  It is truly artwork by God!
