11/10 Logging, Beaches, Fish & Chips, Coromandel Peninsula, New Zealand

November 10, 2014
Coromandel Peninsula
Driving south from Tairua to Whangamata

We stopped to see a logging operation in action

There are three big machines and a truck on the hill on the left

I'll number them from right to left

Machine number one, orange, rips the tree out of the ground and passes it to machine number two

Machine number two, yellow, strips the branches off the trunk

Machine number three, yellow and black, places the logs neatly on the truck

You can see that the land around the logging site has been replanted and is in various stages of growth. We were told it takes 25-30 years for the trees to reach full size.

We continued down the road to Whangamata.q

The smiling sun on the store tickled me

Whangamata is a surfing town

The beaches are beautiful

It seems we found another winner.  We keep popping in to places and they turn out to have great reviews, which we haven't heard about in advance.  I love it!

Waiting for another tastey meal :)
