11/11 Departing Waihi, Coromandel Peninsula, New Zealand

Departing Waihi
Coromandel Peninsula, New Zealand

Our motel in Waihi is pretty typical of motels here.

The front door is a keyed sliding glass door.

The rear door uses a skeleton key.  When was the last time you used one of these?

All the little motels seem to have interesting coffee and sugar packages.  This Kiwi sugar is pretty cute, but the black and white cow salt and pepper are my favorite!

The road out of town is lined with date palms and so was the road out of Tairua.

We passed lots of water and a wide array of cool bridge types.

Karangahake was our next quick stop on the drive back to Blockhouse Bay/Auckland.

The suspension bridges were great.  10 max was posted, but Russ and I alone set the bridge to swaying.  I don't think we'd walk across if 8 other people were on it!

The tunnels are currently closed for structural inspection.  We'll just have to come back!
