11/9 Green Lipped Mussels, Tairua, Coromandel Peninsula, New Zealand

November 9, 2014
Tairua, New Zealand

We walked across the street from our motel for dinner.

Mike, from First Pres, told us if we went to New Zealand we had to eat green lipped mussels.

Guess what I ordered?

They taste even better than they look.

A few minutes after the nearby table was vacated, the seagulls swooped in.

As soon as the owner/waiter appeared they scattered.  It was fairly common to meet the owners of the restaurants we dined in.

All done.  Yum, yum!

This is one of many fat seagulls waiting on the roof patiently for us to leave.

The sun was setting and the tide was coming in.  The end of another wonderful day.
