Leaving Poinciana Resort

August 30, 2014
Tejacula, North Bali to Jimbaran, South Bali, Indonesia

We planned to stay our last 4 days in Bali a "luxury resort" and today is the day!

Months ago there was no way we would have known we would be staying at the Poinciana Resort one week BEFORE our stay in a " luxury resort".  For a very reasonable price, the Poinciana had everything we could dream of - an villa on the beach with a wonderful owner who had exquisite taste in architecture and hospitality located in a secluded  non-touristy area like the Bali I remembered from 27 years ago.  The only thing lacking was shampoo in the bathroom :)

So at 11:00am we hugged Charles and Nyoman goodbye and started the drive from North to South Bali with Made.

Made stopped for one last view of the cloves drying with the local meeting house in the background.

Local street vendor :)

We stopped for lunch in Kitamani, for one more try at the perfect view of Mount Batur Volcanoe.

The food was not tastey, the price was too high, but the view made it all worthwhile :)

Black lava flow from 1963 almost touching Lake Batur

The drive from the north to the south took 6 hours, a few of the hours spent in excruciatingly slow traffic in Denpasar, Kuta and Sanur.  And then it was time to say goodbye to our new friend and driver Made and say hello to Ayana Resort.

  1. Love the pics of you and Russ w/Mount Batur volcano in the background. Quite spectacular views out there!

  2. I wish we had a great volcano photo with the two of us for a Christmas card, but that was not meant to be.
