Observatory, Port Macquarie, Australia

September 10, 2014

This stop was in honor of Eduardo, our friend with a degree in Rocket Science :)

The moon was full and the observatory was open.  So we went to see what we could see.

The observatory was hosting an entire class of small school children, which was great for the future of  astronomy...but not so good for individuals visiting.

We had a quick look at Saturn and saw one ring....which pleased me immensely.  We also held  1/2 of a certified meteorite.  They could not afford the hole large meteorite, but were happy to purchase  1/2 which still was incredibly heavy, avoiding people leaving with it in their pockets...the fate of their last 3 small meteorites.

We could enjoy the moon with the naked eye outside, looking over the ocean.
