Potters Hotel Brewery Resort, Cessnock, Hunter Valley, Australia

September 11, 2014
Cessnock, Australia

After stopping at the Visitor's  Center to collect info on the area, we checked into the Potters Hotel Brewery Resort.

The grounds are very spacious.  The owner obviously likes a LOT so space.

The girls at the bar were great, answering all of our questions about translating Australian English to American english.

The fish and chips were very tastey, and the beer is very, very cold :)

But the tabletops are incredibly uneven and my beer spilled immediately.  One of the cooks came out to clean up, give me a new beer and said " it's the table, I've told the owner..." And after staying a few days, we have to agree that the owner has a different view than we do about what makes a good lodging.

Do you really need an emergency evacuation point?  This is the site map to our room.

In case we were't clear on the matter, it is also posted on our door.  Maybe this is like the emergency exit that's posted on hotel doors in case of fire?  But can't you just walk out your door here, just like your house?

The door also posts warnings about thieves and the innkeepers act of 1968,

Do you really need more then 6' between the tub and the sink?

A wider vanity would be nice.  Really, any counter area at all would be appreciated.

I'm not sure this tub is even 30" wide.  It's just very narrow for showering.  I just can't imagine that an architect was involved with the design.

But, the grounds are pretty :)

Everyone has a big plant at their door.

It really is not an unpleasant place, but one of the reasons we chose it over other accommodations was the wifi which never worked at our room.  That was a bother, traipsing around with the ipad looking for a connection or sitting outside the reception/check in area.

On the other hand, they had excellent, very cold beer, which made Russ a happy boy :)

It's all good :)
