Queen Victoria Market, Melbourne, Australia

September 21, 2014
Victoria Market

Close to market closing time, pizza went on sale for AU $2 per slice, so we had to try it.  Mine was black olive and very yummy!

Russ is absolutely in heaven with all the cheese stores in the market.  After a month in. Bali with almost no cheese available, he is catching up!

Russ's pizza slice was absolutely covered with mushrooms.  Yum, yum!

So far I have only seen one  live koala - at the entrance to the zoo in Darling Harbour in Sydney.  Here's a koala on a big sign at the Aussie Deli.  I really want to hug a koala.  Lauren's girlfriend hugged a koala on her trip to Australia, so I'll have to research where I can too :)

We had Sri Lankan street food for lunch - butter chicken, curried root vegetables, rice and nan.  It is similar to Thai food, but less spicy.  It tasted great but is definitely not photogenic on a plate.

Carol - You'll have to tell Tina they have a gourmet cheese shop named after her in the Queen Victoria Market :)

The Mussel Pot is a great combination of advertisement, architecture and restaurant!

It's time to go.  We hopped back on the free City Circle trolley back to Flinders Street Train Station.
