Thoughts on Lombok, Indonesia

August 14-21, 2014
Written on a fast boat from Lombok to Bali

We traveled from Bali to Lombok on an incredibly crowded fast boat  and then dragged our bags across sand, over a bridge and up stairs to our lodging.  And to top it off, Russ caught a cold and then so did I.

I was initially disappointed with Lombok, but during our  stay, I realized that life was all about trade offs and I really began to enjoy Lombok.

Our cottage was not the same as our beautiful villa in Ubud, but it was in a great location across the street from the Art Market and the beach :).

Breakfast was not delivered to our room in the morning, but we could choose whatever we liked at the restaurant buffet and we got to know Rody, our Indonesian Muslim server.

There is much less traffic in Lombok than Ubud, so Russ was able to rent a car and drive around the island - one of his favorite things to do.

The ocean was beautiful and we had very easy access to nearby islands and stunning snorkeling.

And we met an American, who owned a restaurant with his Indonesian wife who was able to answer lots of our questions about Life on Lombok.

All in all, it was a nice week.  And now we are on a smaller fast boat  on our way back to Ubud :)
